All classes are suitable
for beginners and more experienced practitioners unless
otherwise stated. If you have any medical conditions
which may affect you in this activity please consult
your Health Therapist or Doctor prior to taking part.
Please inform your teacher of any health conditions
which may affect you in this activity. All classes and
courses are done at your own risk
Do I have to book for termly classes (usually
10 to 13 weeks) and £3 taster session in advance?
No, you can just turn up at the free taster or first
week of term, there is no need to book in advance. If
you wish to ensure your place then you can book and
pay in advance, but this is not usually needed as most
of our venues are big enough to cope with demand.
Can I come to a class once the term has started,
for example on the second or third week of term?
Yes, usually it is possible to do so.
Do classes ever get fully booked up?
Yes, this does happen but it is usually rare and unpredictable.
The Exeter Golf Club class and Plymouth Tuesday evening
class recently became full, but alternative classes
were available.
What should I wear to a class?
Comfortable loose clothing that allows movement. Flat
soled, soft trainers or shoes, some people wear bear
feet or socks. Some venues do not allow outside footwear
(Exeter-Sweat and Stretch, Kingsbridge-Harbour House).
I will have missed a class can I come to an
alternative class?
Yes, if you miss a class you can make up the missed
class at another venue/time for free. For example if
you missed a class on Tuesday evening in Honiton you
could come to the Wednesday class at 5.45pm in Exeter.
This offer is only available during the term you paid
for and is not carried over to the next term. Some classes
are exempt from this offer: Exeter University, Exeter
Golf Club.
I am pregnant, can I still come to the class?
Yes, but work within your own safe limits. Check with
you doctor first, but generally speaking Tai Chi and
Qigong are very beneficial during pregnancy.
I have a health condition that may affect me
during the class, what should I do?
Speak to you doctor first and let your Instructor know.
Tai Chi is generally a very safe activity for a range
of health conditions, but check with your GP if you
are in any doubt.
I notice some classes are drop in and some
are termly based, why is this?
Some venues we work with prefer the drop-in format,
but generally we think it is better to make a committment
to at least on term, as this provides more continuity
and progression in a class. The £3 taster sessions
enable you to make an informed choice.
I can't afford the termly fee, can I pay weekly?
Classes run on a termly basis, so we can't allow you
to pay weekly. In cases of genuine financial hardship
we can allow you to pay in two instalments: one at the
beginning of term and a second instalment two weeks
later.
Do you do any discounts for OAPs, disabled,
students, people on benefits, etc?
In cases of genuine hardship we can offer a small discount,
please speak to your Instructor about this.
I would like a class near to where I live,
can you help?
In principle, yes, we would be delighted.
We would need to have a group of about 12-15 people
to make it viable
Can I train to be an Instructor?
Yes, but you need to do our Foundation
Certificate first or have several years experience.
Are your classes martial or health orientated?
All of our Instructors have been trained to
understand both aspects. Our School is comitted to a
non-aggressive approach but we do teach the martial
apects of tai chi, as tai chi is a martial art.
I would like to ask my employer to have regular
tai chi or chi kung sessions at work to help with team
building and stress management can you provide this
sort of service?
Yes, we would be very happy to help and have a good
track record in bringing tai chi to the workplace.
I am not happy with my class/teacher/venue.
What should I do?
Please contact us and let us know of your concerns.
We are comitted to providing an excellent service to
you.
